Q-RIDE - Motorcycle Licensing

Q-RIDE - The Queensland motorcycle licensing program.

There are three specific courses to complete:

Course 1. is to complete a Pre- Learner Course

Course 2. is to complete a Restricted RE course

Course 3. is to complete a Un-Restricted R Class course to be able to ride any size of motorcycle.

Here’s the easy way to navigate the pathway to a QLD Motorcycle Licence:

1. You must hold a provisional or open car licence and have held the licence for at least 1 year before you can attend a Pre-Learner course.

2. You must successfully complete the Q-Ride pre-learner course and pass a motorcycle knowledge test.

3. When you pass practical & theory you will have RE L learner licence.

4. After three (3) months on your RE(L) motorcyclists are eligible to upgrade to a RE licence. To do this you must:

1. Pass the motorcycle hazard perception test.

2. Successfully complete the QRIDE (RE) practical Course.

3. when you pass theory & practical courses you will have RE provisional or open licence which restricts you to ride legally only Learner Approved Motorcycles. LAMs

After 2 years on your RE Licence motorcyclists are eligible to upgrade to a Class R Licence. To do this you must:

1. Successfully complete the Q-Ride unrestricted (R) practical course.

2. when you have passed the practical course you will have a  R class licence which allows you to ride legally, any size of motorcycle.
